Happy Birthday Adam Rifkin - The Man Who Wrote the UNDERDOG Screenplay!! My Super Hero Beagle!! :)

If there's one thing I've always thought...it's that Adam Rifkin kicks ass.  And that was before he took on the most Morley squeee inducing task of writing the screenplay for 2007's superhero Beagle film, Underdog!  MWAH!

My first totally appreciation of Rifkin came with the downright fucking awesome, and totally underrated Detroit Rock City.  This film is all kinds of awesome and features some wicked performances, most notably from the lovely Lin Shaye as the psycho bible bashing mother of Sam Huntington's Jam, Mrs Bruce.

In a brilliant performance from one of horrors ultimate cool ass females and absolute darlings; it's hysterical to see her in a performance such as this.  I bet she was a Kiss fan growing up.  Haha.

As a total hardcore Terminator 2 fan, I had developed a bit of a love for Edward Furlong...so this meant that when a movie out like this....of course I was gonna go to the cinema, even if I did have to be a loner and go by myself.  Haha.  I hadn't met my "cool" friends at that point after moving away from my buds that absolutely loved this flick.

Love how Furlong is totally rocking the John Connor style as well....just this time with a Kiss tee instead of a Public Enemy one.  :)

Detroit Rock City is just a ridiculous amount of fun and doesn't matter how many times I watch it, I still love it to bits!  If you've not seen it, then rectify that PRONTO!!

Even the artwork is totally reminiscent of the artwork for horror anthology Chillerama, which Mr Rifkin had a a segment, alongside Adam Green, Joe Lynch and Tim Sullivan.  :)

So yes, Detroit Rock City is awesome....Underdog...that's a whole other level of awesomepaws!!  Moooahahahahaha.

Based on the 1960's comic and then cartoon, Underdog is the tale of a slightly mischievous Beagle, who develops superhero powers and can talk, and fly and stuff.  BEST.  IDEA.  EVER.  Teehee.

Voiced by Jason Lee, Underdog is funny, sarcastic and just a wee bit brilliant.  There are so many witty one liners and amazing scenes, my niece Kady and I have watched it a multitude of times.  I bought her the DVD and we would literally watch it on repeat.  Haha.  This was before I got a Beagle, but then when I did, Kady and I totally decided that we sooooo need to get him an Underdog costume.  She drew me this amazing picture of Alfie of Underdog that I have in storage.  I totally need to dig it out as it's amazing.  :)

What I love so much about Underdog, is that I just don't think it could work with any other dog.  Beagles are the ultimate mischievous little menaces, and trust me...as a proud Beagle owner, I know how much trouble my little monster's nose gets him into.  Haha.  He has a personality like no other dog I've ever met.  There's just something about Beagles that I've always been totally obsessed with.  I think it's the fact that they're probably the closest doggie version to me that you could find. ;)  My Beagle~toes is pretty much my doggie soul mate.  When a hooman and a doggie just click, even the most hyperactive and insane dog can be calmed down and turned into a little mummy's boy.  If you're a total Beagle loving person, you might want to read my little ode to Alfie that I wrote regarding responsible dog ownership and the nerdy joys.  :)

With the screenplay though, Rifkin gave me the perfect movie to watch over and over with my niece without ever getting bored.  It's that perfect blend of funny for a child, and witty with a dry sense of humour for an adult.  One of mine and Kady's favourite scenes is when he's trying on outfits as his disguise, which you can see in trailer below.  We totally want to dress Alfie up as all of them.  Heehee.  Oh yeah, and it stars Game of Thrones Peter Dinklage.  :)

So yes...thank you Adam Rifkin for creating such memorable films.  And these are just my personal favourites I've mentioned here.  A big Happy Birthday, and here's to many more nerdy awesome flicks! :)

The Faculty - Still My Favourite Robert Rodriguez Flick, Fifteen Years Later.

"How do you know there's not a conspiracy?

Like maybe The X Files is right."

I fucking love The Faculty!!  Even watching it now, FIFTEEN fucking years later, it is still fucking awesome!  When The Faculty came out in 1998, I went to the cinema FIVE times in one week to see it.  Including twice in one day.  Haha.  This was when I first discovered Josh Hartnett.  Actually, I'd discovered him just a wee while prior in Halloween: H2O.  I'd went to the cinema to see it on my own, and the trailer for The Faculty was actually attached to it.  Watching the trailer again now, man, I'd forgotten just how cool and typical Rodriguez grindhousey it actually was.

Totally nerding at the fact it was written by Kevin Williamson and directed by Robert Rodriguez, and starred Robert Patrick and Elijah Wood, I was most excited.  Oh yeah....and it was about freakin' aliens!!!  Of course I'm gonna be excited.  ;)  And by the time I got to the end of H2O and realised how much I had totally just developed a massive crush on Josh Hartnett, I was in!!

So the minute it was released, I frolic on off to the cinema, geeking with anticipation...I knew I was gonna like it...I just didn't realise how freakin' much.  Haha.  I instantly just wanted to walk straight back in and watch it again.  This was also back when they sold CD soundtracks in the cinema too which was awesome.  Ever since I'd seen Trainspotting one night, and then went back the next day on my own to watch Hackers and Twelve Monkey's, I had gotten addicted to buying awesome soundtracks after watching the films at the cinema, and then just playing them to death, haha.

To me, The Faculty is Robert Rodriguez at his best, even if it does seem to be one of his more underrated movies.  He made the perfect 90's High School flick, introduced us to a ton of new talent, and gave awesome roles to some of our cult favourites, including Robert  Patrick, Piper Laurie, Bebe Neuwirth, Christopher McDonald, Daniel von Bargen and Jon Stewart...as well as featuring roles from Salma Hayek, Famke Janssen and even Ain't it Cool News head honcho Harry Knowles.

When you look at this young cast 15 years later, and they've all went on to do some amazing things, both in TV and film.  And remember, this was before Lord of the Rings.  What I love about this film, was that it was made for around only $15 million....which in normal Hollywood terms is fucking peanuts! A point that I made out when discussing the fact that Machete had a budget of around $25 million, which even taking into account inflation, is still a lot more!  And that's supposed to be a grindhouse flick!  Doesn't really add up, does it!?!  And The Faculty absolutely annihilates Machete in terms of awesomeness.  And it has a total bad ass cast that aren't just in there for comical aspects.  The special effects are awesome too.

What actually inspired this post, other than the fact I'd been watching it, was that a filmmaker partner in crime of mine hadn't seen it!!  I know he's like four years younger than me but pfffft....shocking!!  He played American Football, and actually films and documents it and stuff for Gridiron TV, and I was saying that this is probably my favourite American Football kinda film.  I know its not technically about football, but the football team features prominently, and there are some awesome game scenes.  You also have Robert Patrick as the football coach and he's a total bad ass, haha.  I've been a huge fan ever since Terminator 2, and it makes me giggle that I always found the scene with the pencil to be really funny, and always made me think of Mulder and his pencils.  Who'd have known that a few years later he'd be helping save Mulder's life!?! :)  Gotta love me some Agent Doggett!  I love how much into aliens Robert Patrick actually seems to be in real life as well...I've always known him as this total sci-fi guy, and another alien film I really liked him in was the 1993 film Fire in the Sky.

So yes....a killer cast, an awesome soundtrack, a fun storyline and fucking aliens.  What more could you ask for?  Moooahahahaha.  An Official Facebook page?  Ooh, well well well...lookee what I just found!  Aaah, and  think that when I was hardcore obsessing over this film back in the day, social networking was pretty much nothing.  Aaah, how things change!

I also came across this pretty cool video review of the film which you might enjoy.  Just ignore the fact that they call Robert Patrick the T-2000.  It still baffles me when people do that!?!  But yes, that random little thing aside, the guys totally get this spot on. :)  Enjoy!

Eye Eye!! Frankenstein's Monster Just Got a Super Sexy New Makeover in the Form of Aaron Eckhart!

"Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.” - Mary Shelley

Okay, so Frankenstein's Monster just got hot!  Like insanely hot.  Like Aaron Eckhart/Two Face hot!  Can I hear ya say woot woot!?!! ;)

Right, so let me just put this out there...I fucking hate the Underworld movies.  Ugh.  Okay, maybe hate is a strong word....but I definitely think that they're pretty much just glorified CGI crap.  When I say movies, I'm pretty sure I've only actually seen the first two anyway.  But meh.  Not impressed.

Never the less, I do adore Frankenstein.  And more specifically, I adore Frankenstein's monster.  When you add to that already there adoration and throw in Aaron Eckhart, you're gonna get me interested.  When you add Aaron Eckhart bound up in chains as said monster...you got my attention!  Haha.

Released on January 24th 2014 (gah....we're almost in 2014 already!!  EEEP!!) by Lionsgate, and produced by the guys that did Underworld, I Frankenstein stars the aforementioned Eckhart, as well as Dexter's wench Yvonne Strahovski, Miranda Otto (YAY!!  Eowyn!), Bill Nighy (of course, haha) and written/directed by Stuart Beattie.

With such a wicked cast, I really am hoping that this isn't just a CGI poop fest, and if it is...can someone please make me a Frankenstein movie with Aaron Eckhart has Frankenstein's Monster that's more in line with, I dunno....NOT being shite!!  Lol.

We don't have long to wait, but until then, check out the trailer and let me know what you think! :)

Introducing Evelyn Ryan - Morley's New Feminist Girl Crush, and Star of Upcoming Web Series, The Young Ones!

There's nothing cooler than meeting a super rad chick, who is not only intelligent, quirky, funny and a total feminist; she's also a damn good actress to boot...and she's just getting started!  Yay.

So who is this fabulous chickaroo I hear you all ask? :)  Her name is Evelyn Ryan, and she is one of the stars of new dystopian future web series The Young Ones.  The project of Scottish boys Stuart Gilmartin and Craig Wallace, The Young Ones is a great opportunity to show the progression of a strong female character in a world that's hard to know just what your role essentially will be when the world goes to shit!!

To me I guess, part of the basic concept behind The Young Ones is kind of like when someone asks me that if I was stranded on a desert island/mountains/somewhere isolated to hell, that would I eat an animal...or resort to cannibalism!?!  The thing is, we don't know how the hell we're gonna react until we're put in that situation.  Sometimes the people that are the so-called "tough guys", they just fall to bits when everything they were used to crumbles down around them.  And then there are the characters who were perhaps quieter, and not really sure who they were meant to be, and they turn out to be complete bad asses.  :)  For example, Carol in The Walking Dead, another example of a strong female character in a world gone to shit!  She will literally do anything she needs to survive, and to protect her people.

The way I see it, Evelyn's character Jo in The Young Ones is essentially the latter.  Now as the series is still in production, I'm totally not giving anything away....just because I'm like that! HA!  Instead however, I'll let Evelyn herself drop you  few cheeky wee hints, interview a la Morley style!  Ooh, and just because I'm nice and stuff, you can get a few behind the scenes peeks, and screen shots too...just to give you an idea why I'm totally on board with this project!  We're talking dark, dank, dreary awesome...kind of like my personality.  Bwahahahaha.  ;)

So without further adieu....

Your character of Jo in The Young Ones is merely a child when the shit hits the fan.  I guess at first it's hard for her to know what her role will be in this world.  How hard was that for you as a person to essentially play a "weaker" character in the sense of Jo having to find her way?

Chances are when you first look at a character as an actor you're going to think "well that's totally not what I would do at all," and it would be easy to just kind of half ass it and play yourself saying the words in the script. But what good acting is about (and hopefully, eventually, I'll be a damn fine actress) is not seeing a character as a separate entity that you have to somehow find but realising that all you need for a performance you probably already have.  No character is either weak or strong just like no person is either weak or strong and even though I like to hope I'm a strong person, there have definitely been times in my life when I haven't known what the hell I've been doing, or felt totally out of my depth in an alien situation.  In a way Jo's journey, although its so different to mine in the setting, is pretty similar to the whole filming process in general.  I came into acting just wanting to act, really having no clue what that actually meant, and in the process have came across a lot of people, sometimes it feels like its everyone, who knows a fuck tonne more than me.  So if I just think of the way I've had to deal with that and how I felt it's easy not to see Jo as "weaker" than the people around her, but as someone I can relate to.

How far into the series do we have to wait for your character to start showing a little bit of Evelyn spunk? Spunk...funk....haha, basically when do we get to see you evolving into the kick ass female that I know you want her to be!?!  :)

Hopefully as soon as possible!  There's nothing more fun to play than badassery.  But I think what's cool about this project is that you aren't just thrown in to the world, you get to see what's made these people into what they are now and what they've had to do to survive and since my character is the newest to it all it's going to take a little time before she becomes the kick-ass woman I know she'll turn in to.  Still I think you get glimpses of it in the first few episodes, in between the crying, but hey who says you can't have moxy and cry, sounds well adjusted to me.  (*giggles* MOXY!!  Makes me think of one of my bestest buds and partners in crime from when I worked at Vue Cinema, zee Mox!  Aka BBC Radio Devon's film critic, sports boy and all round persony majig of awesome sauces!!)

What drew you to this project and how has it been filming so far?

I think I kind of lucked into the project really, Stuart got in touch one day and said they needed someone that weekend to shoot a promo episode and so I postponed my plans to do nothing and said I'd help out.  Probably the best decision I've made in a while especially since it means I've been with the project for a while and have been able to spend a lot of time getting to grips with my character, its definitely the longest time I've spent on one role.  It definitely counts as a credit to the show that I haven't gotten bored by now and wandered off, since I have the attention span of a gnat and it takes a lot to hold it.  Filming's been hard work but still really fun and I've definitely learnt a lot through the whole process.  Really can't complain that I get to run around in the mud looking like a mess since it's one of my favourite things to do.  (Me too, me too!!  *Morley instigates mud fight*)

This project so far has been a bit of a sausage fest, what's it been like working with the guys?

The guys have been great, you always feel lucky when you actually get on well with the people you're working with since it makes everything seem a lot more fun.  I hadn't really noticed the sausage fest bit, although now you mention it I guess it is.  Plus they've really helped me perfect my spitting technique (feel free to leave that out :P).  (PAH...I never leaves anything out!!)

I can't wait to introduce you to all my women in horror peeps, and it feels amazing to have met such an awesome chick that shares my views...and that isn't on the other side of the world, haha.  What have your experiences been like so far as an actress, and have you found that there has been a lot of sexism in the industry, both from studying and work?

My experience so far has been pretty great, since I'm still at uni and don't have a lot of free time it means I can only work on projects that interest me.  I don't think there has been any intentional sexism but when you're going through casting calls it always seems to be the guys story that is the main thing and you get woman in the role as girlfriend or random girl number three who the main man sleeps with.  I tend not to apply to those since for starters its probably not going to be a very original or interesting script and second you can tell its just going to be a character that is lumped into the category of 'generic woman' as though that's a thing that actually exists.  It gets frustrating when you see that only a third of speaking roles in film are women parts and really I think it's bullshit when people say it's because men aren't interested in seeing a story about women or that, since the majority of writers are men, that they can't write interesting female characters.  If a writer can't write an interesting woman they obviously aren't a very good writer.  I saw an amazing article the other day which a website published showing the differences in the pitches of male and female writers.  While the male pitches generally went along the lines of 'you have to publish this, I'm fucking amazing' the women usually said things like 'I'm sure this isn't very good but I figured I'd send it to you anyway.'  I felt like finding them all and shaking them while shouting 'no I'm sure you're fucking brilliant!  Write! Write about everything! Don't give a damn what people think!'

Actress wise, probably my biggest inspiration would be Kate Winslet.  She's an amazing actress, she takes no shit, she stands up for women's rights and is constantly speaking out on eating disorders and what it's like to be working in what is unfortunately still very much a mans world.  Who are some of your favourite actresses, or just women in general that inspire you?

My favourite actress hands down has got to be Audrey Hepburn, apart from being such a natural and charming actress on screen she was also a pretty kick-ass woman.  She just always seemed so kind and loving and those are qualities which no one seems to hold in massive high regard these days.  Besides when growing up she transported messages for the Belgium resistance, how much cooler can you get?  In general I'd have to say Caitlin Moran is high on my inspirational woman list.  Her book 'How To Be A Woman,' was at the same time poignant and fucking hilarious.  Who says feminists have no sense of humour? Idiots that's who.

What is the one thing you are most excited for people to see with The Young Ones?

Everything.  The great thing about The Young Ones is it doesn't have a clear cut definition of good and evil which you see in a lot of films, so it'll keep the audience guessing of who they should be rooting for.  They're just real people who've found themselves in a situation which isn't that far detached from what the world could become and they're just doing what they have to do to survive.  No one really knows how they would act in that world but hopefully people will definitely talk about it.

And lastly (for now, BWAH!!), if you could choose anyone character/actor to have with you in this type of situation, who would it be?  Actually, fuck it...I'm nice, you can have three choices!!  ;)  And by nice I mean that it would be impossible for me to choose just one.  Moooahahahaha.

I'm guessing you mean who I would have in The Young Ones world?  That's totally easy, my three main female inspirations that I had growing up... Samantha Carter from Stargate, Katherine Janeway from Star Trek, and Hermione Granger from Harry Potter.  In fact I'd be pretty superfluous if I had those three, I could I dunno cook? Actually I'm a shit cook.

Power to the Lynch! Why Jen Lynch is Fucking Awesome!

I just wanted to throw this out there...

...JEN LYNCH IS FUCKING AMAZING!!!

Now I've always had an incredibly overactive imagination.  A shit ton more than most kids, and unlike most kids who usually get boring as they get older, I've just gotten even more bonkers with my thoughts and ideas.

Jen Lynch is the exact fucking same!  Her imagination is so creative.  And what makes her so fucking amazing, isn't just the fact that she's a kick ass chick that's worked in a male dominated Hollywood since the early 90's.   Random fact - her debut film Boxing Helena came out in 1993, the year The X Files started.  And what had a certain Fox Mulder been doing prior to The X Files?  Apart from the Red Shoe Diaries, haha!!  He was playing Dennis/Denise in Twin Peaks, the show of Daddy Lynch, and one of my all time favourite shows.

Mulder geeking aside, her awesomeness is also neither the fact that she was in Eraserhead as a young girl (bad move to watch that movie on shrooms, hahaha!!), or the fact that she wrote Laura Palmers diary. I mean, guh...Twin Peaks awesomeness!! But that is STILL not why she's truly awesome.  The reason why my fellow Jen is so awesome, is because she embraces her unique imagination.  She looks at things and sees more than just an object, she sees a story.  Now what inspired this post was that she's been posting pictures whilst she's out at night under the #nightwalk, usually with little light, or the flash of a camera lighting up random sections of trees, and then coming up with little stories to go along with them.  She's also started doing a series of #daywalk ones too, and I absolutely love them.

Oooh, and random Jen pic from my Instagram pictured below - whilst flicking through old Empire magazines I had found an interview with Jen which totally put a smile on my face.  This chick's a fucking bad ass, I love her!! :)

Now unfortunately, Hollywood being the cunt that it is, Jen was annihilated for Boxing Helena.  Something I never understood as that film utterly fascinated me when I was a teenager, and loved that it was a fellow Jennifer that had made it.  You don't need to stalk far to realise that I have a total Jeffrey Dahmer/serial killer fascination.  I guess there's something about unconventional love, and the things we'll do to keep someone close to us.

The thing is, her Dad is David fucking Lynch, as a kid she grew up on film sets, and she was in Eraserhead for fucks sake.  How the hell was she NOT gonna be inspired by that!?!  Now with Boxing Helena, there was this whole big lawsuit after Kim Basinger dropped out, and unfortunately people didn't see this quirky and original film, and the media all but crucified her.  Now I'm glad that this came out in 1993, back before the internet, and living in Scotland, and being 14 years old, I didn't have to hear about all the bullshit that surrounded the film.  And I'm fucking thankful for it.  It meant I was able to judge the film as a film.  Not as a lawsuit, or who the director's Dad was!!  A film.  And a god damned enjoyable twisted piece of awesome film at that!!

Now whilst looking for links, I came across this wicked interview that Jen did for Vice.com.  You can read a snippet of it below, but I totally recommend going and reading the full interview, it's fucking awesome.  It's such a perfect look into just how hard it can be to get funding for independent features, and runs along with a conversation I was having with my friend Stuart earlier.  We were discussing his new web series The Young Ones, and just how did Jen and Sylvia Soska raise funding for American Mary, which he was watching at the time....to which I said, their parents mortgaged their freakin' house!!  Oh the joys of parents, as Ms Lynch discovered too.  :)

After so many years of being away from filmmaking, how did you get the opportunity to make Surveillance?Such a long story. The quick version is that I had been producing short films and doing a lot of writing and had a great writer’s group with a bunch of friends and I was looking to get back to doing stuff. One of the guys in my group asked me to read this script he’d written, so I asked him, “Do you want me to read this as a friend or as a writer?” He said “Both.” It was a script about witches and it had some interesting ideas in it, but I had some notes, which pissed him off a little bit. I got the response, “So what would you fucking do with it?” So I said, “Well, I’d do this” and so I wrote Surveillance. People really liked the script but I wasn’t getting anywhere with it. Then one night my father called me and said “You’re the sickest bitch I know! You can’t end it this way.” And I said “Sure I can.” But it was at his beseeching that I wrote an alternate ending, which I shot but knew I would never keep in the film. He called a few months later and asked me “So what the hell is going on with your movie?” I said, “Zilch. I don’t know if it’s because it’s been 15 years or the subject matter or what, but people are scared.” And he said, “Alright, well, you’ll probably say ‘No’ to this, but what do you think would happen if I put my name on as executive producer?” And I said, “No fucking way. You don’t think I get enough shit for being your daughter in the first place?” But he said, “I really like this movie and I want to see it get made. We’ll do an experiment. We’ll put my name on the cover as an executive producer and we’ll just see what happens.” Within 24 hours, I had offers. It was the most disgusting but amazing thing ever. It’s ridiculous how suddenly legitimizing a name like that can be. So I went and made the film, went back and showed it to him, asked if I could use a song, he said “Yes,” and thus was born Surveillance.
This really is proof that if you want to get something done, it's not how amazingly good you are at your craft, it's WHO you know, and how to get them to pimp stuff out for you. Which is why you'll often see so and so presents on certain films.  It the way for people to find out about certain films, and a way for these films to get funding...you know, without their parents mortgaging their house first!

Jen is lucky to have such an awesome Dad, but it's shit that she had to use his name to get her second feature Surveillance made in the first place, especially when she's clearly one talented biatch!!  :)  I guess it has worked out in the end, that one of the things people destroyed her for in the first place (which is totally retarded in my eyes!!) was who her Dad was, but then that's what gave the money people the incentive to fund the film in the end.  If we're lucky we'll have a Dad that is into awesome stuff, and take inspiration from that.  Why do you think I'm into hillwalking and conservation so much!?!  Because I grew up with my parents doing this stuff with me.  We all learn and then take from our parents what we love personally, and then make it our own.  It's the circle of fucking life, something the media and Hollywood both need to learn!!

I'm glad Jen made her comeback after a long absence.  She is one of the strongest and most talented women out there working today, and she truly is an inspiration.  Luckily karma's a cunt, and I hope the people that were shitty about her suffer from the bloodiest of tampons and worst PMS ever!!

Anyhoo, as it's coming up for Christmas, I thought I'd share this amazing picture from Jen's Instagram of how the Lynch family like to decorate, oh yeaaaah!!!  Way to score major points in my geeky eyes! :)

All of this shit is awesome, so when I add to that, that she's collaborating with Jen and Sylvia Soska, Jovanka Vuckovic, Mary Harron  and Karyn Kusama on bad ass chicks rocking the anthology film with XX, it's just too fucking rad for words.  Girls, let's show the guys...and all the doucheholes out there that say there are no decent female horror directors, that bitches indeed be fucking crazy!!  In the best way possible of course.  You guys are gonna nail this shit!  Thank you Dark Sky/XYZ films for putting this out there and to Jovanka Vuckovic for her part in getting this historic project up and going!  You can actually read an exclusive interview with Jovanka on FearNet....totally advise!!  MWAH!

Good luck ladies, I'm sure it's gonna be fucking rad!!  :)

In the meantime, if you've not had a chance to check out any of Jennifer Lynch's stuff, I advise you start with checking out some trailers.....

ENJOY! :)

Here's the trailer for Surveillance, and an interview with the lovely lady herself. :)

And Hisss, bwahahaha :)

Last but by not least, I think we all need to high five Jen's Dad David for doing THIS to David Duchovny!!  BAAAAAH!!!!  High five Mr Lynch!  And god damn you making us women realise that Mulder has better legs than most women!!!  Moooahahahaha.  Ooh, and Peaks fans, you totally need to hunt down Laura Palmer's diary, written by Jen.  You know you want too. :)  In fact, why not click on THIS LINK, moooahahahaha!?!?!! ;)

If you are so taken by this lovely talented lady, I totally recommend following  @thinkajen on Instagram and @thatjenlynch on Twitter. :)

Keep on being awesome Jen, and I shall keep on beng inspired to not give a fuck when people think I'm being strange for my overactive imagination.  :)

Edited to add - Jen also just directed the most bad ass, and downright fucking awesome episode of The Walking Dead, easily one of the best episodes yet.  As an amazing character episode, and one that featured some of the best gore we've ever seen in both film, and TV.  Jennifer's direction was flawless, and every single bit of praise sent her way is totally worth it!  :)

19 Year Anniversary of the Death of Jeffrey Dahmer! ,

So we have just passed the 19th anniversary of the murder of Jeffrey Dahmer, my ultimate serial killer fascination, yesterday, the 28th November.

"In those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them."  - Revelation 9:6

I admit, to some my love of Dahmer may come across rather morbid, but I never actually mean it to be like that.  I am just utterly fascinated by just how far he was willing to go, just to not be left alone. I just find his story to be really sad.  Both for his victims, their families, his family, and Dahmer himself.

I mean, just put yourself in his position....so desperate to not be on your own you try to create your own fucking zombies. The act of a sane man of course!  Dahmer was only caught after a potential victim got away and alerted the police to him.  By this point it was like he wanted to be caught.  Tracy Edwards, who was 32 at the time may have escaped his fate at the hands of Dahmer, but tragically he never received any counseling or anything to help him deal with the whole media circus that enveloped him the moment those policemen entered Dahmer's apartment.

Edwards was sentenced in January 2012 after being involved in the death of a homeless man like himself, after he was pushed to his death off a bridge by a third homeless man.  Edwards was sentenced to one and a half years in prison, along with 2 years extended supervision.  One can only hope that this time in jail is theraputic for Edwards, who essentially still died that day he escaped Dahmer.  You can read my thoughts on how mortified I was to learn that Edwards received no post traumatic stress disorder therapy from the state of Wisconsin in a blog I wrote after his arrest.  One of my main points that I make, is one that X Files God Chris Carter made in the X Files Episode, Irresistible, which was based on Dahmer, featuring the character of Donnie Pfaster (pictured below), who later re-appeared in season 7 episode Orison.

"People wondered why it took them so long to catch this kid in Milwaukee. Thought someone should have noticed he was killing all those young boys. The truth is, no one ever believed it could happen."

Now I have written about Dahmer a bunch of times in the past, including how he inspired Chris Carter to create the Donnie Pfaster character and was  his inspiration for Millennium.  Rather than regurgitate the same old feelings again, why not just link you to a bunch of stuff I've done before. :)  For a blog I wrote at the 20th anniversary of his capture, you can find it here.

And in fact, I loved the soundtrack that much that after I discovered you couldn't buy it, I totally went all stalkypants on the lovely ladies that did the music, and when I bought their album This Side of North, they sent me the Dahmer OST free.  I then became friends with one of them, Christina Agamanolis, and in fact did an interview with her regarding her music and working on the film and stuff as part of my Women in Horror Recognition Month blogs.  So yes, please do take a moment to check out all this stuff, especially if you're as morbidly curious as I am.  And total Millennium loving X Philes.  :)

And last but not least, I would like to reiterate, I do not condone what Dahmer did, but I do find it utterly fascinating.  To quote the tagline from the David Jacobsen flick -

The Mind is a Place of its Own.

Prepare for the Ultimate Tease...CJ Wallis is Back People, and Shit's About to Hit the Fan for Jennifer Mae's BB Star Candy Cummings!

Holy fuck.  So I've just seen the teaser trailer for the new CJ Wallis flick BB, and it is fucking awesome!!

CJ Wallis has been away from horror for way too long!  This is how a teaser trailer SHOULD look however!  Gritty, sexy, edgy and not quite preparing you for the ultimate fuck....a head fuck!!  I'm so glad CJ met Chaturbate camgirl and star/inspiration behind BB, Jennifer Mae.

This looks like it's gonna be the perfect introduction into the good old world of horror and something tells me that a star is about to enter our world, with full nail biting force! :)  And speaking of nails....

...Soprano nails all the way...bitch! ;)

So yes, boys and ghouls.....prepare yourself...and stay safe online.  You never know who's watching you! ;)

Introducing the Star of New CJ Wallis Movie BB - Jennifer Mae!

After announcing the return of one of horrors favourite men, Mr CJ Wallis with his new movie BB, and then releasing both the teaser teaser poster, and then the actual teaser poster...I am now super excited to introduce you to both the star and inspiration for the film...and a fellow Jennifer to boot!!  Extra bonus! :)  So without further adu.....Miss Jennifer Mae, aka @purplestar420.

How was it that you first met director/writer CJ Wallis?  And were you aware of his work prior to first getting on board this project?
I went to Rock the Bells in L.A. and  tweeted a picture to Spitta saying he won smokiest set of the night.  Spitta retweeted my picture, and CJ put my tweet in the "Trust Fall 3" video.  My fans started sending me messages saying "OMG Purp, CJ used your tweet in Spitta's video, that's so bad ass" and shit like that.  My reaction was "Who's CJ Wallis?!" They all told me he was a pretty big deal in the Jet Life world, so I figured 'Hey, why not give him a follow?'

We quickly hit it off and next thing you know, CJ is in my chatroom and sends me a message saying "I see you typing BB".  I got freaked out for a second, and the second after that, CJ had the whole movie pretty much planned out.

How did Mr Wallis go about asking you to be his leading lady?  Did he give you a basic synopsis of the film, or had he completed the script by that point?  And more to the point, was he able to ask you without sounding like a total creeptastic weirdo?  Haha.
I think he kind of creeped himself out a bit after the message, and saw the entire script and major plot points just moments after.

To be honest, I thought he might just be blowing smoke up my ass, in hopes to get some L.A. booty when he was in town.  I wasn't until he made the poster with me in it, and put his name on it, and then posted it on Twitter that I was like, "Holy fuck, I'm about to be starring in a CJ Wallis film!!"

He never really came off creepy to me.  I thought he was interesting and bugged the fuck out of him with I think with a million and one questions.  I mean, he's this white boy from Canada, hanging out and working with a bunch of rappers...makes me wonder.

(Aww, babe...you and me both.  Haha.  Although I have an even crazier story that I KNOW you'll totally dig.  Just look up Silibil 'n' Brains.  Silibil is on of my best friends from school, and he did some mental shit.  Basically, according to record labels, Scottish white guys don't rap!  Billy and his mate Gav decided to con them into a record deal under the pretense that they were actually American!!  They've just had a documentary released about them called The Great Hip Hop Hoax.  You totally need to check it out.  :)

Oh, and CJ is like the most non creepy guy ever, haha.  I just wanted him to be skulking and lurking around this chatroom, weirding out he pretty ladies.  Bwahahahaha.  CJ, you need to work on your Norman Bates approach a little better.  HA!!)

Given that the subject matter is pretty risque; did you have any reservations about making the film?

No, not at all.  I always wanted to act, and did not hesitate to say yes.  There was no way I was going to let such an amazing opportunity pass me up, especially knowing there are so many other girls out there that would kill to work with CJ.
Did you know any of the other guys working on the film prior to pre-production, and if so, who and how well?
Nope, not a single one.  I'll be honest, and you might want to strangle me for this, but I don't watch much of anything...film, or TV.   I have definitely Googled the shit out of CJ since we said we were going to do this, and have seen the films he used them in, and they are both great actors.  I'm actually somewhat intimidated (in a good way) by them, being as they have so much experience, and I've only done middle school talent shows.

So whilst I was writing about what to expect from BB, and making cast announcements, I came across (BOOM BOOM!!) your Chaturbate profile.  Tell me a little bit more about Chaturbate, how you discovered the site, how long have you been a member, and what has been your best experience so far on there?

Sooooo Chaturbate, I started on Chaturbate only back in March of this year but have been a web cam model for about four years now, give or take.  I discovered web camming when I got fired from my job working at a Head shop selling designer bongs.  I didn't get fired cuz I was bad or anything, I was actually one of their best employees, they just couldn't afford my wamping $10 an hour salary anymore.  :)

So I hopped on Creeps List...I mean Craigs List, and started searching for jobs, just like Mary in American Mary ironically enough, and came across an add that said "make $500-2000 a week working at home from your computer".  I was told I could do whatever I wanted and didn't have to get naked if I didn't want too and that I pretty much just had to keep people entertained from my web cam.  So I was sold!  (Maybe I should take up web camming....I can keep people entertained, haha.)  I fucking love web camming.  I get to dress up and get all sexy, I don't have to drive in traffic, and I can honestly say I make people very, very happy.  I work when I want, and I get to travel as much as I want since all I need is my laptop to make money.

My best experiences are, and not to sound corny, but they are when one of my anti-social guys doesn't come to my room for like a week or more, and comes back and tells me they made friends or got a girlfriend because of me, and that's why I haven't seen them in so long.  That stuff brings tears to my eyes.  I really enjoy the whole community of it and try to use my powers  to make things better.  The pornographic stuff I get to do is just to pay the bills.

Whilst investigating the site, I was reading through various model profiles, and what I discovered were some really quirky, fascinating and generally rad chicks.  Is that the general kind of person you'd normally find on there?
You will find everything on there.  Girls  from all over the world!  Each one has their own super power!  It's amazing really.  I mean, don't get me wrong, there are some things you might see that you'll  think are absolutely weird, or disgusting, but there's at least one person that can jerk to it! :)  I've met some pretty bad ass chicks from going to conventions and meeting them.  My best friend, who's going to be in a really hot sexy sex scene , Violet Vega (@MissViolet420) I met from camming, and she's honestly the nicest, sweetest, coolest kitten lovin', pot smoking, Canadian tattooed babe ever!  Pow!
Being that the basic concept of BB is about not knowing the extent of the true evils that could be lurking on the other side of the screen; have you encountered any particularly disturbing individuals?
I'd be lying if I said no.  I have seen and been told some very disturbing tings on there.  People like and want some weird things.  Some might want to call them sickos, but I try to remember we live in a society where mental illness is at an all time peak and try not to criticize them.

I will say, you will be shown first hand in BB some of the horrendous things I've gone through as well as other girls.  I'm warning you cam girls, if you're already paranoid of who's on the other side of he screen, then you might want to watch BB with your boyfriend you tell the world you don't have, or possibly the cam model you can't stand, but you pretend to on Twitter...because CJ Wallis and I want to creep you the fuck out!!!!

What is the strangest request you've received so far from a viewer?
I used to have a guy that liked me to put a wig on and sign Taylor Swift songs.  As well as a guy a lot of the old school cam models know as the "cheese guy" who wanted me to go to the fridge, get a Kraft single, bite a whole in the middle and hold it up to my eye!  I have no idea what that was all about?!!

Morley - Haha, any thoughts there people?  I'm thinking that classic scene from A Serbian Film, you know...the one with the pee pee and the eye.  And when I say pee pee, I mean dick!! ;)  Heeheehee.  Man I love this scene!

Dog person or cat person?  Or bunny?

Dog.  All though I had a bunny named Stoney when I was 18, but these two girls Breana and Candice killed it.

Morley - Grrrrrrr!!!  Bitches be killed!!
Wizard of Oz - kids fluff or downright fucking terrifying fuel for nightmares!?! ;)
Fuck, this is a horrible question.  Wizard of Oz is one of my Top 5 Favs, but I love to be so scared I don't want to go pee during the movie.

Let's blast out some favourites....and GO...

TV Show?
 Shameless.
Modern Day Horror?
House of 1000 Corpses.
Old Scool Horror?
Nightmare on Elm Street.
Dinosaur?
Long necks?  The really nice veggie eating one from Land Before Time.  Or wait...Jurassic Park?

And Sheldon Cooper...*cough* I mean...Jennifer Cooper enters the building... ;)

...Littlefoot in The Land Before Time was called always called a Brontosaurus, however, as all fellow dino nerds will know, the term Brontosaurus hasn't actually been the scientifically used term since 1903...110 years ago!!  It was only in 1979 however (the year that someone FABULOUS was born...*cough*ME*cough*) that the record was FINALLY set straight for the public.   Still though, even another te years later, in 1989, the US Postal Office released a series of stamps where they had an official Apatosaurus skeleton, the real name for "Brontosaurus", called a Brontosaurus.  Oh how my ten year old self ranted about this!  I mean, let's face it...I knew the difference when I was FIVE years old!!  The minute I started learning about dinosaurs, I knew it all...ALLLLLL I tells you!! ;)  But yesss, you have totally just given me the  most rad idea for a daily blog, moooahahaha.  Little Miss Morleysaurus does the Dino Daily!  Oh yeah! ;)  Ooh, and in Jurassic Park, it's Brachiosaurus, the ridge on the head gives it away.  :)

Yes, I am an uber nerd.  Haha.  And aaaah, Jurassic Park.  Dr Grant how I love thee so!!  THIS moment here, it's probably my favourite moment in film history.  :)  *dies*  Wants to marry him, and BE him all at the same time!! Man I have gender issues.  Lol.

Star Constellation?

The Six Sisters.  Or I think its called Subaru.

Awwww, officially known as Pleiades, this forms part of the constellation of Taurus...my star sign. :)  It's actually the Seven Sisters, but to the naked eye one usually only sees six.  I think that's why the Japanese adopted that theme when they created the Subaru brand.

Pumpkin Based Food Stuff?

Everything pumpkin!!  I love, love, love, love pumpkin!  And make the best pumpkin pie in the world.  I was actually born the day after Thanksgiving and my burfday falls on it this year.

Oooh, must be a Jennifer thing.  Heehee.  If you're a fan of pumpkin STUFF, you'll have to try out my recipe for Pumpkin Turnovers...or as we'd call them in Bonnie Scotland, pasties.  But pasties in the States and Canada are nipple tassels, so I had to change the name in my recipe.  Although...now I mention it.... ;)  Lol.  You can purchase the Have a Heart for Horror Cookbook here.  And try an original creation a la Morleysaurus!  All profits go to Project Get Safe.

Film as a Kid?

Young Dr Frankenstein.
Season?
Summer.
Bug?
Ladybug.
Universal Monster?
The Yeti.  To be specific - "Bumble from Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer.

Actress?

Faye Dunaway
Actor?
Johnny Depp of course.  Just like every other twenty something year old in the world right?

Haha, I think I was the only one I know not to have a serious Johnny Depp love.  I mean, don't get me wrong, I think he's amazing, I've just never "got" the whole Johnny Depp thing.  Give me Jeremy Renner any day! Moooahahahaha.  #Stalkypants :)
And last but not least, where is the most entertaining place you've ever had sex?  Hit me girl!  :)
Does on the internet with another girl count?  Lol.  I'd say so.  Haha.  If not then I'm gonna have to say in an elevator on Halloween in a retirement building in my Strawberry Shortcake costume.

WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Heehee.  ;)
